Executive Director Order No. 1998-01 (Issued 10/20/98) (RESCINDED by Resolution No. 2003-07 (on 12/16/03), Resolution No. 2006-01 (on 06/29/06), and Resolution No. 2009-01 (on 09/08/09) - Exemptions from Supplier licensing requirements.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ORDER NO. 1998-01 (Issued 10/20/98)

 

Pursuant to Michigan Gaming Control Board Resolution No. 1998-09 and Rule 432.1322(4), the following fields of commerce are hereby ordered exempt from the supplier licensing requirements of the Michigan Gaming Control & Revenue Act and Rule:

  1. Medical corporations, partnerships or sole proprietorships, where the officers, directors and owners are all physicians licensed in Michigan, to the extent such entities provide medical related services to a licensee, certificate of suitability holder or applicant.
  2. Insurance companies licensed to transact business in Michigan by the Michigan Insurance Bureau to the extent such companies provide insurance related services to a licensee, certificate of suitability holder or applicant.
  3. Attorneys licensed to practice law in Michigan, and legal partnerships and legal professional corporations, whose officers, directors and shareholders are all attorneys licensed to practice law and in good standing in Michigan, to the extent such attorneys provide legal related services to a licensee, certificate of suitability holder or applicant.
  4. A Michigan or federally chartered depository financial institution to the extent such entity provides financial related services to a licensee, certificate of suitability holder or applicant.
  5. Michigan public institutions of higher education to the extent such institutions provide education related services to a licensee, certificate of suitability holder or applicant.
  6. Public utilities regulated by the Michigan Public Service Commission to the extent such entities provide regulated utility related services to a licensee, certificate of suitability holder or applicant.
  7. Governmental agencies and the United States Postal Service to the extent such agencies provide services related to their agency function to a licensee, certificate of suitability holder of applicant.
  8. Travel industry enterprises licensed by the Interstate Commerce Commission or the Michigan Public Utilities Commission or approved by the Air Traffic Conference or the International Air Transport Association to the extent such enterprises provide purchasing or ordering of lodging, meals or other accommodations at standard rates at the request of a licensee, certificate of suitability holder or applicant. This exemption does not apply to a junket enterprise as defined by the Michigan Gaming Control & Revenue Act.
