Utility Coordination and Permits Services

The Utility Coordination and Permits Section (UC&P) consists of two units. The Construction and Highway Advertising Permits Unit provides central office guidance and assistance to MDOT staff as well as external customers regarding temporary highway right-of-way use and signs that can be seen from the highway (billboards). The Transport Permits Unit is responsible for similar central office activities with respect to oversize and overweight commercial vehicles, as well as issuance of all permits associated with the program. Through the section manager and a specialist, the section also supports and assists MDOT staff with utility coordination efforts associated with highway construction projects.
