May 9, 2012 -- Beginning the week of May 14, contracting crews will start a project to resurface almost 5 miles of pavement and repair nine overpasses on I-94 in the city of Detroit. All work on this $10 million investment is scheduled to wrap up in October.
The resurfacing work, between Wyoming and 2nd avenues, will be restricted to overnight hours on weekdays. Lane closures may begin at 9 p.m. and end by 5 a.m. the following morning Sundays through Thursdays. Lane restrictions may occur until 8 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Repair to nine overpasses between Weir Road and Trumbull Street will require around-the-clock lane closures on weekends. The continuous lane closures starting Friday night and ending Monday morning are needed for steel repairs, substructure work and painting.
