May 3, 2012 -- The ongoing reconstruction of M-150 (Rochester Road) will move into a new phase on Tuesday, May 15, when crews will close all lanes between 2nd Street and University Drive. This section of Rochester Road is expected to reopen to traffic in late July.
During the closure, traffic will follow posted detours on local streets. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has partnered with the city of Rochester and local business owners to devise strategic plans to allow traffic to still access businesses via alleys while the closure is in place.
Locally known as the "Main Street Makeover," the project includes replacing pavement and sidewalks, and upgrading underground utilities and traffic signals. All work on this $7.6 million investment is expected to be completed in mid-November.
