April 26, 2012 -- The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) today announced that the demolition of the existing Dix-Toledo Road overpasses above I-75 in Wayne County will require a full weekend closure of the freeway. The demolition is part of an $18 million investment to modernize the Dix-Toledo Road/I-75 interchange in Brownstown Township.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, April 27, both directions of I-75 will be closed between the Fort Street/Schaefer Highway exit in Detroit, and the Fort Street exit near Rockwood. All freeway traffic will be directed to use M-85 (Fort Street) during the full closure. I-75 is expected to open by 9 p.m. Sunday, April 29.

For emergency responders, one lane of southbound I-75 will be available from the Fort Street/Schaefer Highway exit to Eureka Road. The entrance ramp from Sibley Road to northbound I-75 will be open.

Motorists are reminded that an alternate route using I-94 and I-275 for both directions is available over the weekend.
