US-23 reconstruction in Oscoda begins March 26

March 21, 2012 -- Reconstruction work is set begin Monday, March 26, on US-23 from the AuSable River north to F-41. This $6.5 million project includes removing pavement, paving, and new curb and gutter, sidewalks, storm sewer and water main.
The work will be completed in three stages: Stage I: Late March - Late July
Work will begin on the southbound side of US-23 with traffic shifted to the northbound lanes from the AuSable River bridge to Lake Street and from Evergreen Street north to F-41.
During reconstruction in downtown Oscoda, traffic will be detoured to Lake and Evergreen streets. Downtown US-23 reconstruction is expected to be complete on July 23. Stage II: Late July - Early October
Work will move to the northbound side of US-23 with traffic shifted to the southbound lanes from the AuSable River bridge to Lake Street and from Evergreen Street north to F-41. Stage III: Early October - Early November
A temporary signal will be in place at the AuSable River bridge during reconstruction of the northbound and southbound lanes.
