28US-131 corridor study result: improvements coming, freeway not necessary October 27, 2005 - - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), in accordance with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is going forward with the "No-Build" option for the US-131 corridor in St. Joseph County. Five other alternatives, involving building a freeway between the Indiana state line and north of Three Rivers, had been under consideration. MDOT also announced that improvements will be needed along US-131 in the next five to 10 years.
