June 15, 2012 -- The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will reopen the ramp from the Water Street connector to westbound I-94/I-69 a full nine days ahead of schedule, welcome news to motorists previously detoured onto local roads in order to access the freeway. The ramp work is part of the $90 million investment to reconstruct and widen more than 2 miles of I-94/I-69 between Pine Grove Avenue and Lapeer Road in Port Huron.
This milestone comes less than three weeks after crews completed a temporary westbound I-94/I-69 exit ramp to Water Street. Currently, all traffic on I-94/I-69 is sharing the eastbound lanes of the freeway while the westbound side is being rebuilt.
All lanes will be open and in their normal configuration in late November.
