April 13, 2012 -- Repair to the eastbound and westbound I-94 bridges over I-275 in the city of Romulus starts Monday, April 16. The work is part of a two-year, $10 million project that began last July to repair seven bridges on I-94 in western Wayne County. All work is expected to be completed in September.
Starting Monday, overnight single- and double-lane closures are scheduled on westbound I-94 from Wayne Road to the I-94/I-275 interchange. The single-lane closures begin at 7 p.m. while the double-lane closures begin at 10 p.m.; three lanes will be open by 5 a.m. the following morning.
Starting Tuesday morning, westbound I-94 traffic will be shifted to the right using the right shoulder as a lane, with a through-lane maintained on the I-94/I-275 collector/distributor roadway. This will allow contracting crews to begin bridge work on the center portion of the westbound I-94 bridge.
Eastbound I-94 will not be impacted at this time.
