Agency: Transportation

Fast Facts:
- Dix-Toledo Road will be reconfigured into a five-lane roadway between Sibley Road and I-75.
- A single five-lane overpass will be constructed, replacing the current two bridges.
- One mile of I-75 will be reconstructed between Sibley and King roads.

February 23, 2012 -- Crews will begin earth work for the new Dix-Toledo Road overpass above I-75 in Brownstown Township on Monday, Feb. 27. At 9 a.m. on Monday, crews will close the right lane of northbound and southbound I-75 between King and Sibley roads. In addition, the right lane of the southbound US-24 (Telegraph Road) connector to southbound I-75 will be closed. The lanes will remain closed until late November.

The decision to close the right lanes on I-75 was made after careful examination of the space required to begin earth work associated with the new overpass. These activities include the removal of existing soil, the compaction of new soil, and the placement of support measures that would result in heavy machinery to close to freeway traffic. For these safety reasons, the right lanes will be closed on I-75.

The right lane of the southbound US-24 connector to southbound I-75 is necessary due to freeway traffic being reduced to two lanes.

MDOT reminds drivers: Snowplows need room to groom.
