January 5, 2012 -- A small segment of Eureka Road will be closed for utility replacement starting Thursday, Jan. 5. The closure will occur in the median of M-85 (Fort Street) in the cities of Southgate and Wyandotte, and will reopen to traffic in early April. The utility replacement is part of the current $40 million investment to reconstruct M-85 between Sibley and Goddard roads.

During the full closure, eastbound and westbound Eureka Road traffic will be detoured to the first median crossover immediately to the right of the intersection. Currently, both directions of Fort Street have the two left lanes closed between Pennsylvania and Goddard roads.

MDOT reminds drivers: Snowplows need room to groom.
