The Jackson Transportation Authority (JTA) has been in existence since the early 1930s. The current fixed route service consists of eight routes that connect the trip generators of the urbanized area of Jackson. Fixed route accounts for 75% of JTA's ridership. The JTA's Demand Response service (Reserve-A-Ride) provides curb to curb service throughout Jackson County and reservations are required. A premium Demand Response service called the "PET" (Paratransit for Employment Training) program provides work related transportation for disabled City of Jackson residents. All other disabled County residents benefit from the JARC (Job Access/Reverse Commute) program providing work related transportation 24 hours per day.
