Members reviewed the 2004 Transportation Summit and the feedback we received from table discussions. We decided to research survey data currently available and surveys underway to see how our work can build off of them.

Members reviewed information gathered on the Perceptions survey. We will talk with MDOT and Tri-County RPO about partnering on an implementation of the perceptions work. A presentation was given on the Inter State Traveler.

Charlene Crowell, moderator, provided the purpose and vision for the team. The team developed their operating charter, roles & responsibilities, and meeting format. Meeting dates and agenda for the first meeting were determined.

The team reviewed, discussed and clarified the issues, goals, and actions that were determined at the Transportation Summit.

The team reviewed the issues, goals and actions decided at the last meeting. Reviewed the methodology and implementation plan. Created a timeline for task completion. The team then broke into Issues groups to decide team leaders and responsibilities.

The team reviewed Issue #2, Perception of Poor Service. Sub-Team Chair Rick Lyles presented methodology for gather information and survey questions. Group discussion was held to gather further information needed for survey questions.

The team developed a list of groups to whom a survey on perception of poor service should be sent. The group also began discussion of how "gaps" in service should be defined for purposes of developing an objective analysis of the service gaps issue statewide.

The group reviewed Issue #1: Gaps in Service. Sub-Committee Chair Erin Shelton presented methodology for gathering information. Group determined categories for defining gaps.

Diane presented some rural mobility options. A discussion on service gaps followed focusing on setting service standards, which could be used to determine when a service gaps exists.

The group reviewed the progress of sub-committees, #1 Gaps in Service and #2 Poor Perception. The group heard presentations from sub-committee #3 Funding. Chair Sharon Edgar provided guest speakers, Bill Beachler and Angel Fandialan, both of MDOT who discussed current legislation transportation funding and other states transit programs.

The group reviewed the progress of sub-committees, #1 Gaps in Service and #2 Poor Perception. Handouts were given to team for comments and finalization of both sub-committees. #3 Funding sub-committee will present further information at October 19th meeting.
The committee agreed that another meeting will be needed to complete tasks as assigned. November 16, 2004 has been added to the calendar.
