Robert D. Slattery Jr. Mr. Slattery has been Mayor of the City of Mt. Morris since 1991, after serving as Chairman of the Planning Commission there for several years.
Like most mayors of small towns, Mayor Slattery also holds a regular full time job. Since November of 2001 he has been the Director of Information Systems and Planning for the Genesee County Road Commission. He had previously been the Senior Transportation Planner for The Road Commission for Oakland County, since 1984.
Mayor Slattery has been active in the Michigan Municipal League, and served as President of the League in 2001-2002. He has been Chairman of the League's Transportation, Infrastructure and Environmental Affairs Committee since 1995. He is a Past President of the Michigan Association of Mayors. He has been Secretary, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the League's Region I. A strong believer in the importance of continuing education, Mayor Slattery has attained Level III (the highest level) in the Elected Officials Academy, and has served on its Board of Directors.
Mayor Slattery is a Past Chairman of the Genesee County Small Cities and Villages Association.
He has taught computer classes in Clarkston Community Schools' Adult Education Enrichment Program since 1988, and was nominated for Enrichment Teacher of the Year in 1999.
Bob holds a Master of Urban Planning Degree from the University of Michigan and a Bachelors Degree in Resource Planning from the University of Michigan-Flint.
