| Project 1: Wayne County - Exit 26 to Exit 29 |
Start: April 2008 End: July 2009
How traffic is affected:
- Traffic will be maintained at all times via median crossovers.
- Two lanes of traffic will be open on southbound I-75 and one lane will be open on northbound I-75.
- Included in this project is pavement repair to 6 miles of I-75 from the I-275 interchange in Monroe County to South Huron River Drive (Monroe/Wayne County border). This portion of the project will require intermittent single and double-lane closures.
What we are doing:
- A $55 million reconstruction on 2.5 miles of north- and southbound I-75 in southern Wayne County.
- The project limits are between South Huron River Drive (Exit 26) in the city of South Rockwood and Gibraltar Road (Exit 29) in the city of Flat Rock.
- This section of I-75 is showing significant road surface deterioration. Many of the bridges have deteriorated to the point that major rehabilitation is the most cost effective fix and is necessary to ensure the safety of the motoring public. In addition, the existing southbound M-85 (Fort Street) left-lane entrance ramp to southbound I-75 will be extended to a right-lane entrance ramp to improve mobility.
- Included in this project is repair to 7 bridges:
Northbound I-75 over the Huron River;
Southbound I-75 over the Huron River;
Northbound I-75 over North Huron River Drive;
Southbound I-75 over North Huron River Drive;
South Huron Drive over I-75;
Woodruff Road over I-75; and
An extension of the Fort Street entrance ramp to southbound I-75.
- Two culverts also will be replaced:
I-75 over Silver Creek; and
I-75 over Smith Creek.
