US-131 Grand Rapids

• What we are doing
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing $31 million to make improvements on US-131 in Grand Rapids from Pearl Street to North Park Street, and from West River Drive to 10 Mile Road.

• Contact: Grand Rapids Transportation Service Center at
616-464-1800

• Start: April, 2007 End: August 2008

How traffic is affected
  • A minimum of two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction during peak travel times

  • Lane closures will be in effect during off-peak travel periods

  • Ramp closures will be necessary at the northbound US-131 interchanges with Ann Street, I-96, West River Drive, Post Drive, and 10 Mile Road

  • Ramp closures at adjacent interchanges will not occur simultaneously

Project benefits
This work will extend the life of the roadway. The enhancements will promote safety, improve ride quality, and improve traffic flow along the US-131 corridor.
