Talbert Abrams (1895-1990)

Talbert Abrams

To Abrams goes the credit for proposing and then flying the first aerial route location survey ever made for a highway department. That project from Benzonia to Beulah and honor in September 1925, pioneered aerial highway planning and designing, enabling the Michigan State highway Department to complete its engineering at a fraction of the usual costs. Abrams, who had served in the Aviation Section, U.S. Marine Corps; the U.S. Air Corps and the U.S. Air Mail Service (1917-1925), proved the worth of a concept that eventually became commonplace throughout the world. Today, Abrams Aerial Survey Corporation, founded in 1923, annually completes precision aerial surveys and remote sensing for thousands of highway, transmission and pipe line miles.
