October 17, 2008 -- Crews from C.A. Hull Contracting will be closing the ramp from southbound I-75 to eastbound Big Beaver Road in Troy beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18. The eastbound and westbound ramps from Big Beaver to southbound I-75 will also be closed. The ramp closures are necessary in order to repair bridges within the interchange and repair the bridge that carries southbound I-75 over Livernois. The work is part of the Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) $16.5 million investment to rehabilitate 24 bridges on I-75 in Clarkston and Troy.
The rehabilitation work at the interchange will require all exiting traffic from southbound I-75 onto westbound Big Beaver Road. Traffic wanting to access eastbound Big Beaver Road will use the median turn-around off the westbound side of the roadway. Traffic wanting to enter southbound I-75 from eastbound and westbound Big Beaver Road will be directed to use the Rochester Road entrance ramp, which is expected to open by 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18.
All ramps to and from southbound I-75 and Big Beaver Road are expected to open in approximately 40 days. All lanes of I-75 are expected to open to traffic in early December.
