US-127 Business Route and M-20 improvements progressing

STARTING DATE: Sunday, Oct. 19

ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: Thursday, Nov. 6

PROJECT: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing $112,000 to build traffic islands at three locations on US-127 BR and M-20 in Isabella County. The project includes pavement, sidewalk, curb removal, signs and landscaping.

Work is currently underway on US-127 BR in Clare at Schoolcraft Street. This work, which began Monday, Oct. 6 is being completed during daytime hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is expected to be completed by Tuesday, Oct. 21.

At a second site, US-127 BR at the intersection with Appian Way, work is scheduled to begin Sunday, Oct. 19. This work is being completed during night time hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. and is expected to be completed by Thursday, Nov. 6.

The third site is located on M-20 (High Street) at Washington Street in Mt. Pleasant. This work will be completed during daytime hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., beginning Monday, October 20, with work anticipated to be completed by Thursday, Nov. 6.

Crawford Contracting, of Alma, was awarded the project contract.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: Throughout this project, at least one lane will remain open in each direction on US-127 BR and M-20. Business and residential access will be maintained at all times.
