Contact:  Anita Richardson 989-754-0878, ext. 227
Agency: Transportation

COUNTY: Saginaw

HIGHWAY: I-75

CLOSEST CITY: Zilwaukee

STARTING DATE: Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008 (beginning at 5 a.m.)

ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008

PROJECT: To maximize mobility and relieve traffic congestion for motorists, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will shift northbound I-75 traffic over the Zilwaukee Bridge to the southbound lanes of the bridge, with I-75 southbound traffic detoured to southbound I-675.

Crews will set up the southbound traffic detour on Tuesday, Aug. 12, starting at 5 a.m. The traffic shift across the bridge is expected to be completed Tuesday, Aug. 12, by midnight.

The shift will remain in effect and southbound I-75 Zilwaukee Bridge traffic will utilize I-675 until Saturday, Aug. 30.

Several local ramp closures are required to accommodate the traffic detour to southbound I-675. A list follows:

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: Starting Tuesday, Aug. 12, the following ramp restrictions will be in effect:

The northbound I-675 exit ramp to southbound I-75 is closed. Motorists will be detoured to the Tittabawassee Road exit off I-675 northbound, where they will turn left to access I-675 southbound to I-75 southbound. Motorists who bypass the Tittabawassee Road exit will be rerouted to M-84 to I-75 southbound.

M-13 exit ramps (between Mile Markers 150 and 154) to north- and southbound I-75 are closed. To access I-75, motorists traveling on M-13 are advised to take M-81 east to I-75.

The North Adams Street ramps to north- and southbound I-75 in the city of Zilwaukee are closed. Motorists will be rerouted south along Adams Street to Tittabawassee Road, then west to I-675, where north-and southbound exits are available.

The northbound I-75 exit ramp to M-13 is open.

The southbound I-75 exit ramp to M-13 is closed. To access M-13, motorists traveling on I-75 southbound are advised to take Exit 2B to downtown Saginaw, where signs to M-13 are posted, or continue on southbound I-675 (past Exit 2B) to northbound I-75 to M-13.

The M-81 exit ramps to north- and southbound I-75 are open.
