July 2, 2008 -- Resurfacing work is scheduled to begin Monday, July 7, on a 4.8-mile section of M-25. The work begins north of the village of Port Sanilac and extends to just north of Forester Road in Sanilac County. The project, which includes a two course microsurface application, is expected to be completed in early August. This work involves placing a mixture on top of the pavement to seal it and to help correct rutting, minor surface irregularities and slippery surfaces.

Pavement Maintenance Systems, Inc., of Imlay City, is the prime contractor for this $280,000 project.

In addition, paving from Deckerville Road to Russell Road in Sanilac County will begin Monday, July 7, on a 5.2-mile section of M-25. This project includes drainage improvements, safety upgrades, shoulder paving, and resurfacing. This work is expected to be completed by mid October.

Saginaw Asphalt, of Saginaw, is the prime contractor for this $3.2 million project.

Single lane closures will be in effect for the duration of both projects, with traffic maintained using flag control. One lane will be open to through-traffic at all times throughout this project. This work is weather-dependent.

"As always, motorists should use caution, allow extra travel time, and expect delays," said Doug Wilson, MDOT Cass City Transportation Service Center manager.

Upon completion, this resurfacing work will promote safety and improve the traffic flow on M-25 for years to come.
