Tolls
and currency exchange rates
Since September 1, 2000, the
Sault Ste. Marie
International Bridge has been jointly operated under
an agreement between the St. Mary's River Bridge Company (the
Canadian owner), and the Michigan Department of Transportation (the
Michigan owner).
Under
the agreement, the toll rate in Canadian currency is adjusted twice a
year to keep its value within a nickel of the U.S. currency toll
rate.
On
October 1st, the Canadian currency toll rate is adjusted based
on the average daily currency exchange rate for the previous six-month
period ending September 1.
On
April 1st, the toll is adjusted based on the average daily exchange
rate for the six-month period ending March 1st.
For
more information, see these recent press releases
about the rate changes.
