What information do I need to cross the border?

The International Bridge is an international crossing between the United States of America and the dominion of Canada.  As you enter either country you will be stopped and questioned prior to entry into that country.  Each person in your vehicle must be able to prove their citizenship.

  • For Americans and Canadians crossing the border, a birth certificate, with photo ID license, will be sufficient.
  • For all others, proof of citizenship consists of a valid passport.
  • Children must have a birth certificate as well. If you are transporting someone else's child, you must have a letter of authorization from the parent or legal guardian.
