IQ Card, Canadian version
IQ Card, U.S. version
What is the IQ Prox Card?
The IQ Prox Card is an upgraded version of the IQ Card--an electronic toll collection card for passenger vehicles at the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge. The IQ Prox Card uses close proximity radio frequency technology; to pay a toll, you only need to wave the Prox Card within six inches (150 mm) of a reader in the toll booth.
Purchasing the card
There is a one-time fee for each Prox Card of $5 U.S. or $6.25 Canadian. (This is the cost of the card to the International Bridge Authority.) Cards can be purchased in the IBA sales office, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. (See diagram below.) Customer deposit and online account policies are the same as for the standard I.Q. Card. Please purchase additional trips at a booth with a toll attendant.
Prox Card holders can use dedicated toll booths.
The outside lanes, both northbound and southbound, of the International Bridge are completely automated and available only to Prox Card users. Prox Cards can also be used in lanes by a toll attendant (please see diagram below).
Other advantages
The IQ Prox Card speeds up processing time for our commuter customers, reduces wear and tear on the standard IQ Card readers and frees toll staff for other functions.
