The Blue Water Bridge spans the Saint Clair River, and carries international traffic between Port Huron, Michigan and Point Edward and Sarnia, Ontario.  Located near interchange of I-94 and I-69, the bridge forms a critical gateway linking Canada and the United States.

  • I-94 connects Port Huron with the cities of Detroit and Chicago.
  • I-69 connects Port Huron with the industrial center of Flint (via I-75) and the State Capitol in Lansing Michigan.
  • I-69 also provides a connection between Chicago and northern cities on the United States eastern coast via Highway 401 and 402 in Canada, bypassing the city of Detroit.
  • Both I-69 and I-94 enter the west end of the Blue Water Bridge Plaza and terminate at the border.
  • The Canadian side of the Blue Water Bridge is linked with the Highway 402 which leads to London, Ontario and intersects with Highway 401 which connects Toronto, Detroit and the East coast ports of the United States.
  • The location of  the Blue Water Bridge also provides gateway access to the "Thumb Area" of Michigan.
