The 12 Critical Safety Areas and Action Plans

In 2004, a group of traffic safety experts met to create the state Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP). Organized by the Governor's Traffic Safety Advisory Commission, the group included representatives of state agencies and safety groups.

They identified 12 critical issues the state must address to meet its roadway safety goal. Use the links below to read the related sections of the SHSP, and the action plans for each area.
