How do you determine what crossing projects are eligible for funding?

Each year, MDOT undertakes a review of all crossings in the state and prioritizes the top crossings to receive funding consideration. This prioritization process takes a number of factors into account, including the volume of vehicular and train traffic at the crossing, the existing level of warning devices and the crossing's recent crash history. Projects at crossings on the final prioritization list are eligible for funding. Certain other projects are eligible as well, click here (link to "what we pay for" document) for more information.
