Elderly and Persons With Disabilities Program (Section 5310)

Section 5310 provides funds to meet the special transportation needs of elderly persons and persons with disabilities.  Funds are apportioned to the states annually by a formula based on the number of elderly persons and persons with disabilities in each state.

Projects are funded at up to 80% of net project costs.  Eligible recipients include private nonprofit agencies, public bodies approved by the state to coordinate services for elderly persons and persons with disabilites, or public bodies that certify to the state that no nonprofit agencies are available in an area to provide the service.
