COUNTY: Marquette
HIGHWAY: US-41/M-28

ESTIMATED STARTING DATE: Thursday, May 1
ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: Oct. 31, 2008
PROJECT: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be completing several projects along US-41/M-28 between M-95 and Champion in Marquette County, including: construction of a center left-turn lane and carpool lot at the M-95 intersection; road reconstruction from west of the M-95 intersection to west of Champion; and resurfacing US-41 from County Road AKE to Green Road. This project also includes reconstruction of the Canadian National Railroad crossing and construction of a non-motorized pathway from Champion to Van Riper State Park.
TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: This work is expected to require up to two lane closures with flag control and a temporary traffic signal, which may cause motorist delays up to 15 minutes. MDOT will construct a temporary road around the railroad crossing project. Work at the M-95 intersection will be done at night to reduce motorist inconvenience.
CUSTOMER BENEFIT: This project will extend the pavement lifespan, increase motorist safety and convenience, and provide separate facilities for non- motorized traffic.
