M-24 reconstruction to resume in Lapeer County on Thursday, April 24

STARTING DATE: Thursday, April 24

ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: Late June 2008

PROJECT: Work is scheduled to resume Thursday, April 24, to reconstruct and widen 4.5 miles of M-24 between Pratt Road and the I-69 interchange, in Lapeer County. This work includes pavement and drainage work, including final pavement markings. The overall project was constructed in stages during the last two years in order to reduce the project's overall impact on motorists. The construction cost for work to be completed this year is $1.5 million. This $20 million project is expected to be completed by late June.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: Motorists can expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures on north- and southbound M-24. Posted message boards will alert motorists concerning this road work. For updates on this project, visit the list of statewide lane closures on the MDOT Web site at www.michigan.gov/laneclosures.

CUSTOMER BENEFIT: This project will improve the ride quality and promote safety along this stretch of highway for years to come.
