Casandra E. Ulbrich, Ph.D.

     Casandra Ulbrich (D-Rochester Hills) was elected in 2006 to an eight-year term on the Michigan State Board of Education, effective January 1, 2007.

     Casandra serves as the Vice President for College Advancement and Community Relations at Macomb Community College. Before joining Macomb Community College in 2011, Casandra was employed at Wayne State University for over ten years, serving in various administrative positions, including Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. Casandra previously served as a Press Secretary to former U.S. House Democratic Whip David Bonior, acting as the official spokesperson for the Congressman.

     Casandra serves on several local boards, including the Walter P. Reuther Library Advisory Board, Automation Alley's STEM Education committee, Healthy Neighborhoods Detroit, and FAR Conservatory of Therapeutic and Performing Arts.

     The first in her family to attend college, Casandra earned an Associates Degree from St. Clair County Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), and a Masters Degree in Communication from Wayne State University in Detroit, and a Ph.D. in Communication, also from Wayne State University.

     Casandra and her husband, David Williams, live in Rochester Hills, Michigan
