Alexandra Matish has been practicing labor and employment law for ten years. She currently is an Assistant General Counsel at Wayne State University in Detroit. Prior to coming to Wayne State, Alexandra was an associate attorney at White, Schneider, Young and Chiodini in Okemos. Alexandra received her B.A. from James Madison College at Michigan State University and her J.D. from University of Detroit School of Law.
Alexandra has lectured at the State Bar's Labor and Employment Law Section Mid-Year Meeting and has been a co-contributor to the State Bar of Michigan Labor and Employment Law Section's "Law Notes." She also serves as a Member of the Labor and Employment Advisory Board of the Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
Alexandra is a member of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. She also has served as a Council member of the State Bar's Young Lawyers Section, as well as its Secretary-Treasurer and Vice Chairperson. As a Young Lawyer Council member, Alexandra was the chairperson of the Lansing Imprint Mentoring Program, which pairs young lawyers with high school-aged youth.
Alexandra served as a board member of the Coalition for Adoption Rights Equality, an organization that advocates for co-parent adoptions, regardless of the parents' marital status or sexual orientation.
Alexandra was appointed to the Michigan Women's Commission in 2005.
Alexandra is married to Beverly Davidson. They have one daughter.
