Chair: Kelvin W. Scott, J.D. - Appointed September 2004 Kelvin W. Scott is currently Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Plastech Engineered Products, Inc., a tier one and tier two supplier to the automotive industry. He formerly worked as Associate Corporate Counsel for Masco Corporation, a litigator with the firm of Kienbaum Opperwall Hardy and Pelton, an Assistant United States Attorney with the U.S. Attorneys office in the Eastern District of Michigan and an associate attorney and partner with the law firm Dickinson Wright.

Vice-Chair: Matthew Wesaw, Holt, - Appointed September 2004 In 2001 Matthew Wesaw retired after serving as a Michigan State Police officer for 26 years. During his career with the Michigan State Police, Mr. Wesaw served at the Jackson, Flat Rock, and Lansing posts before being promoted to Uniform Sergeant and later Detective Sergeant. In 1995 he was elected to the full-time position of Vice President of the Michigan State Police Troopers Association (MSPTA). Mr. Wesaw now serves as the Director of Government Relations for the Michigan State Police Troopers Association.

Treasurer: J Michael Zelley - Appointed August 2006 J. Michael Zelley was appointed to the Commission to represent Independents for a term expiring December 31, 2009. Mr. Zelley is Founder and President of The Disability Network, a nationally recognized, consumer driven, private non-profit, technology and advocacy organization, serving 6,000 individuals with disabilities. Previously, Zelley was Founder and President of TravAbility, Inc., and Senior Vice President and Board Officer for Securedata Corporation.

Secretary: Karen Henry Stokes - Appointed September 2005 Karen Henry Stokes of Grand Rapids is President of the Paul B. Henry Foundation. She was previously director of physical relations for Spectrum Health's Butterworth campus. An accomplished musician, she has both taught and performed on the piano.

Mohammed Abdrabboh, J.D., Dearborn - Appointed May 2003 Abdrabboh is a practicing attorney in the Detroit area who has been representing hundreds of victims of racial profiling and discrimination throughout the United States, particularly since September 11th. His extensive involvement earned him the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) Pro Bono Attorney of the Year award for 2002. In May 2003, Governor Jennifer Granholm appointed Abdrabboh to Michigan's Civil Rights Commission.

Mark Bernstein, J.D., Ann Arbor - Appointed January 2004 Mark Bernstein is a product of the Michigan public education system having attended public schools from kindergarten through graduate school. Bernstein attended the University of Michigan receiving a B.A. in 1993 and completing the J.D./M.B.A. joint-degree program in 1996. While attending law school, he served as associate editor of the Michigan Telecommunications and Technology Law Review.

Lisa Peeples-Hurst, St. Joseph - Appointed June 2008 Lisa Peeples-Hurst, of St. Joseph, is currently a Prevention Specialist Team Leader for Generation with Promise-Benton Harbor. She is also the Project Coordinator for the Berrien County Designated Youth Tobacco Use Representative (DYTUR) and Certified Clinic Facilitator for the Freedom from Smoking Program.
