The Michigan Governor's Advisory Council on Asian Pacific American Affairs wishes to express its most heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims of Monday's tragedy on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA.
"At this time of national mourning the leadership of ACAPAA calls upon our state and nation to not only raise its collective voice against wanton acts of violence, but also work together to foster a better understanding between the rich and diverse cultures and communities that constitute our great nation," said Council Chair H. Sook Wilkinson, Ph.D.
ACAPAA was established by Governor Jennifer M. Granholm in May of 2005 to advise the Governor and the Department of Civil Rights on policy matters pertaining to Asian and Pacific Americans in Michigan and recommend policy and action plans that would improve their lives.
