Continuing Education Requirements and Approved Programs
All staff of the Department, a community mental health services program, or a licensed private hospital, employed for the purpose of providing recipient rights services shall attend and successfully complete the Basic Skills curriculum as determined by the State Office of Recipient Rights, within the first 90 days of employment. Within the first three months of employment, the Rights Officer/Advisor and any alternate(s) shall attend and successfully complete the Basic Skills Training Program offered by the Department's Office of Recipient Rights.
The Community Mental Health Service Program (CMHSP) shall assure that:
The Community Mental Health Services Program shall also assure that all contractual agreements with service providers who: (1) are required by the Mental Health Code to implement their right system or, (2) through contractual agreement are required to implement their own rights system, include language which requires staff appointed as Rights Officers/Advisors (and those identified as their alternates) to attend and successfully complete the Basic Skills Training Program offered by the Department's Office of Recipient Rights.
A minumum of 36 clock hours of education or training shall be required over a three (3) year period subsequent to the completion of the Basic Skills requirements, and in every three (3) year period thereafter.
