Proposed Integrated Care Plan Released for 30-Day Public Comment Period

LANSING - The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) is pleased to announce that the Michigan proposal to integrate care for people who are Medicare-Medicaid eligible is now available for a 30-day public comment period to all Michigan residents and organizations.

"The overarching goal of the project is to integrate services for the more than 200,000 people who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid in the state of Michigan," said Olga Dazzo, Director of the MDCH. "The current systems do not adequately provide the quality of care, access to care, and person-centered approach that is needed for this population. Our proposed plan aims to address just that."

A person-centered delivery system and support coordination model will serve as the foundation of Michigan's integrated care plan. If approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), three-way contracts will be required between the federal government, the state and management entities selected to participant in the project.

The 30-day public comment period for the proposed plan is now available and will continue through April 4. During this period, the public has multiple avenues for submitting comments. Two public comment meetings are scheduled with stakeholders on March 20 in Lansing, and March 29 in Detroit. Further, the proposed plan is available online at www.michigan.gov/documents/mdch/Michigans_Integrated_Care_Proposal_378383_7.pdf and members of the public may provide comment at integratedcare@michigan.gov.

MDCH staff also will be attending meetings across the state organized by stakeholders for public comment and to educate the public about the plan. The proposed plan will be submitted to CMS once the comments from the public comment period have been incorporated.
