Contact:  James McCurtis, Jr. (517) 241-2112
Agency: Community Health

July 16, 2008

The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has immediately suspended the medical license of Michael James Eadie, M.D., based on his conviction in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan.

On January 15, 2008, Eadie, 61, was convicted of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. As a result, Eadie was sentenced to one year probation with terms, and was ordered to pay a fine in the amount of $10,000.00.

On July 1, 2008, MDCH issued an order summarily suspending Eadie's license pursuant to the Public Health Code which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional upon the conviction of a felony or a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for a maximum term of two years, or a misdemeanor involving the illegal delivery, possession or use of a controlled substance. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Eadie's license to practice medicine.
