Chemicals play important roles in our everyday lives. They are found in a wide range of household and commercial products that can be lifesaving as well as hazardous to our health. Accidents do happen. In addition, we must confront the threat of terrorist activity that includes the use of chemicals as weapons. Chemical events can have serious implications for human health and the environment. Preparing for and responding to chemical events are important functions of public health.

Fact Sheets and Medical Management Guidelines
The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has developed a Hazardous Chemical and Toxin Fact Sheet Matrix, providing easy access to on-line fact sheets and medical management guidelines. These documents are from respected sources including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry (ATSDR), the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services Right to Know Program, e-Medicine, and MDCH.
