Mission Statement

The mission of the department's Immunization Program is to minimize and prevent the occurrence of vaccine-preventable diseases within our state.

Vision Statement

The Division of Immunization will work to implement effective strategies and to strengthen partnerships with our stakeholders to eliminate vaccine-preventable diseases in Michigan.

Guiding Principles

  We value good customer service.

THEREFORE, we will:

  • Demonstrate professional courtesy, concern and understanding to all constituents.
  • Find or provide resources to meet customers' needs.
  • Follow up with customers in a timely manner.
  • Maintain open communication.

We value a competent workforce. 

THEREFORE, we will:

  • Identify and invest time, resources and training needed.
  • Provide appropriate, clear guidance and feedback.
  • Recognize, encourage and develop mentors.
  • Retain competent workers by supporting and recognizing them.
  • Value staff input.

We value integrity.

          THEREFORE, we will:

  • B e truthful (negative and positive)
  • Be respectful to all
  • Empower people to support informed decisions
  • Support objective rational decision making
  • Provide complete and accurate information in a non-judgmental manner

We value communication.

          THEREFORE, we will:

  • Answer our phones.
  • Utilize committee process.
  • Provide accurate information.
  • Take consistent messages.
  • Ask for input from other programs (solicit internal and external)
  • Send out (send down) CDC guidance.
  • Use effectively staff meetings to discuss and resolve issues.
  • Answer emails promptly.
  • Keep all staff in the loop.
  • Realize that not all communication can occur via email.  Ensure access to information.  Use appropriate forms of communication to all staff.

We value accountability.

          THEREFORE, we will:

  • Do our job to the best of our ability.
  • Take responsibility for our actions.
  • Acknowledge problems and work to resolve them.
  • Do what we say we will do (follow up with our responsibilities in a timely manner)
  • Participate or engage in continuous quality improvement.
  • Measure our achievement toward our goals and continuously work to improve.
  • Recognize to whom we are accountable.
  • Utilize and provide reliable information.
