Elliott, Detroit 48207 has been fined $5,500 by the Department of Community Health for operating mammography equipment without authorization from the Department between April 23, 2009 and July 11, 2009. The Public Health code includes provisions for an administrative fine of $500 for each week that mammography is performed without authorization. The facility has been directed to cease and desist operating the mammography equipment and additional remedies are being considered. In addition to operating without state authorization, the facility's certification by MQSA expired in November 2008.
