How can I find a qualified or certified contractor or installer for my project? Are particular energy systems recommended for use in Michigan?

A. The state and federal governments do not recommend particular products or contractors, dealers, or installers.  Depending on the work being done, contractors may have to be licensed to perform specific kinds of work in Michigan.  You can certainly ask contractors about their qualifications and ask to verify their appropriate licensing.  The Michigan Department of Licensing & Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has information about licensing for builders and contractors. The State of Michigan also provides information about how to protect yourself when hiring a builder or contractor.
