This part of the web-site is dedicated to highlighting the good work and best practices that occur in the community colleges throughout the state. This
site has been populated with three initial best practices occurring in the community colleges. The hope is that each college will be able to share one of their best practices with their colleagues. All of us benefit when we share the good work that goes on throughout our state.
Schoolcraft
College has seen remarkable results with their innovative
approach to teaching the requisite skills of welding. They
have been able to greatly increase their non-traditional
headcounts, offer entrepreneurial opportunities to the
students at Schoolcraft and prepare them to earn a high
wage in a highly skilled and needed job of the 21st century.
The Learning Corner at Wealthy has been successful in preparing and helping individuals transition into their programs at Grand Rapids Community College. This
project involves assisting community members to successfully
pass their GED, apply and transition from the community location on Wealthy Street to the main campus in downtown Grand Rapids. They have achieved high results with their initial group of students and plan on expanding this service to other parts of the Grand Rapids Community.
