Updates to the Food Law

Michigan updated the state’s food law in 2007.  Two major changes include adopting the FDA 2005 Food Code and requiring that many food establishments employ at least one certified manager by June 30, 2009.  Information regarding updates will be added to this page as it becomes available.

Whether you are a food establishment operator, a consumer, or a regulator, you will find the following information useful in gaining an understanding of some of the requirements found in Michigan’s food laws. The Food Code and certain CFR’s are adopted into Michigan’s law by reference.
