Michigan Annual Food Monitoring Program

conducted by
the Michigan Department of Agriculture

The goal of MDA's annual Food Monitoring Program is to assess potential pesticide exposure through the food chain in Michigan and make recommendations to state and federal agencies to prevent risks and to reduce those that might exist.

Since the testing program began in 1991, the majority of samples with detectable levels of residues have been well below the tolerances established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and were, therefore of insignificant risk.

It's important to note that testing equipment and procedures have become so technically precise (due to advancements in technology), we are now able to detect levels of pesticides unheard of ten years ago.
