What do I need to bring a pet into Michigan/United States?

The Michigan Department of Agriculture does not inspect small animals being brought into the state. We ask that pet owners follow state guidelines for bringing animals into Michigan, which may be found here.

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) regulates small animals coming into the U.S. from abroad. Detailed information on the subject is available on the CDC website.

Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (A.P.H.I.S.) now hosts an excellent page covering all the basics, plus tips and tricks for traveling with a pet.

A.P.H.I.S. contact information in East Lansing, Michigan: 517-324-5290
