Michigan Department of Agriculture's Temporary Storage Facility Requirements

The following is a reminder of the Michigan Department of Agriculture's temporary storage facility requirements for licensed grain dealers.

  • If temporary facilities are used during the license year and were not reported in Section 8 of the license application, report the location on the Department's Grain Dealer Daily Position Reporting (DPR) Form.

  • If the temporary location is off premises, please include a copy of the lease agreement and a bin diagram, which clearly identifies the bins being leased. To qualify as a temporary storage facility, there must be no grain received at that location.

  • If the temporary storage capacity increases the overall bushel capacity to a higher license fee bracket, please remit the additional fee with the license application or the Department's Grain Dealer Daily Position Reporting Form.

  • If the temporary storage capacity increases the overall warehouse receipt bushel capacity to a higher bond amount bracket, please submit proof of bond increase with the license application or with the Department's DPR Form.

If you have any questions please contact Jeff Haarer, Producer Security Services Section Manager at (517) 241-2865.
