Upcoming W&M Serviceperson Examination Schedule

PLEASE NOTE:  An additional testing/registration category has been added - "MULTIPLE DIMENSION MEASURING DEVICES" Any serviceperson or company desiring to place in service a Multiple Dimension Measuring Device  for any commercial application must successfully complete this examination.

The following tests are scheduled for each of the following two-day sessions.

  • Wednesday, January 16, and Thursday, January 17:
  • Wednesday, March 19, and Thursday, March 20:
  • Wednesday, May 14, and Thursday, May 15:
  • Wednesday, July 16, and Thursday, July 17:
  • Wednesday, September 17, and Thursday, September 18:

You must pre-register for the exams you wish to take.  Service Persons seeking multiple device category registration should register for testing both dates.

Preparation Checklist

  • Complete and mail in the Serviceperson Registration Application (including either the $300 agency fee or $100 person fee or both if you are a single serviceperson agency).
  • Pre-register for the examination using the Examination Registration Form.
  • Bring any reference material needed during the exam. It is strongly encouraged to bring a copy of both the current edition of NIST Handbook 44 and any applicable EPO's found within the current edition of NIST Handbook 112.  Copies of the handbooks will not be provided on-site.  NOTE:  Information regarding purchasing NIST Handbooks can be found at the website of the NIST Office of Weights and Measures.
  • Thoroughly review all applicable materials (including all Weights and Measures Advisories found on this website).

After Exam
  • The exam will be graded immediately after being completed (80% or better answered correctly to pass).  Only one retake will be allowed per fee submission.

  • A picture will be taken which will be transferred onto a personal wallet sized Michigan Serviceperson Identification Card


Miscellaneous

A brief review of the Michigan Weights and Measures Laws and the Michigan Voluntary Registration of Service Agencies and Servicepersons Program is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. through 11:00 a.m. the day of the exam.

  • This brief review session is not mandatory but will be informative and is strongly encouraged. The exams will begin at 11:00 a.m., and conclude at 4:30 p.m. each day .
  • Please return the Examination Registration Form with your completed application and fee(s) as soon as possible, as seating is limited.
  • The test registration form will NOT be processed until after a completed Serviceperson Registration Form has been received.
  • Reference material may be used when taking the exam.

NOTE: It is strongly encouraged to review all information on the "Service Person Registration" and the applicable "Weights and Measures Advisories" on this website.
