Purpose:
The mission of the Food & Dairy Division is to protect public health by ensuring a safe and wholesome food supply, while working to maintain a viable food and dairy industry. Food safety is the top priority of the Food & Dairy Division (FDD).
Food & Dairy protects the public well-being through regulatory enforcement, problem-solving, leadership and expertise on food safety issues.
Food Service Oversight
Food & Dairy is responsible for the oversight of the statewide food service sanitation program for 37,000 establishments such as restaurants, cafaterias, temporary food vendors and commissaries. In partnership with 43 local health departments, MDA provides training, coordination, direction and inspection guidelines, while local sanitarians conduct the actual inspections.
