Mission:

The Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station generates knowledge through strategic research to enhance agriculture, natural resources, families, and communities in Michigan.

 

Overview:

Researchers, in laboratories and offices on campus and field research stations around the state, investigate topics that range from forest product development to food safety, new varieties of fruits and vegetables, water quality, livestock production, rural and community development, and the quality of life of Michigan youth and families.

Mission:

ARS conducts research to develop and transfer solutions to agricultural problems of high national priority and provides information access and dissemination to:

  • Ensure high-quality, safe food and other agricultural products
  • Assess the nutritional needs of Americans
  • Sustain a competitive agricultural economy
  • Enhance the natural resource base and the environment
  • Provide economic opportunities for rural citizens, communities, and society as a whole

The Potato Research Worksite provides leadership in the quest for new knowledge and technology that will increase the vitality of the nation’s potato industry. The leadership is embodied in a unique federal-state-private industry collaboration that strives to improve quality and reduce losses for the farmer, processor and consumer.
