Digital Imaging Services for Michigan's Fruit and Vegetable Industry

Digital images can be valuable tools to the state’s produce shippers, growers, brokers, buyers and distributors in making decisions on loads of produce. This service may also assist parties in settling disputes.

Upon request, the MDA or U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) inspector will capture the appearance of produce, defects, shifted loads, brands, container markings, and the condition of the containers. The digital images provide photo documentation and may accompany a traditional inspection certificate.

Produce shippers, growers, brokers, buyers, or distributors wishing to request this service, which will cost $56 per hour with a one-hour minimum charge plus $1 per mile round-trip, should contact MDA at 616-356-0600. Clients will receive a e-mail which they will need to view and print digital images.
